Carla and Marco are bipolar poets whose work is inspired by their emotional extremes. When they discontinue their medications, they are admitted to the same psychiatric facility. As their chemistry enhances their feelings, their mania intensifies. Despite attempts by physicians and parents to separate them, they continue their beautiful but dangerous romance, which swings them between fanciful manic highs and suicidal depressive lows, until they are forced to choose between sanity and love.
