Gone to Earth (1950) was re-edited following a legal dispute between director Michael Powell and producer David O. Selznick. Selznick's adjustments are primarily as follows:- (1) Incorporating a prologue. (2) Adding scenes that explain things, frequently by labeling or inscribing them. (3) Increasing the number of close-ups of Jennifer Jones. Additionally, he cut other moments that he believed were not emotional enough. Regrettably, several of them were significant plot pieces, and as a result, the story does not make as much sense as the original.
