The Weapon, the Hour, the Motive

Don Giorgio, a dashing young priest who also works as a teacher in a convent, has a romantic relationship with not one but two women: Orchidea and Giulia. After he expresses contrition and makes a commitment to go back to the church, he is brutally put to death. Giulia's throat was cut not too much later after that. Inspector Boito develops romantic feelings for Orchidea, who is also the primary suspect in the case, and makes wedding plans with her. An inquisitive young child named Ferruccio, who is being held captive and drugged, appears to hold the key to solving the case. Ferruccio is being held in isolation. He saw one of the murders take place, but no one will believe his account, will they?
