The War Lord

a knight in the service of a duke goes to a coastal town where an earlier attempt to build a castle to protect the town failed. To build up the Duke's power, he starts to rebuild it in front of the bordering barbarians. He's doing well, though, until he starts to fall in love with one of the local women.
