The FBI's training academy ranks Clarice Starling as one of the best students in the program. While Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic psychopath, is serving life in prison for a variety of crimes, Jack Crawford wants Clarice to interview him. As Crawford sees it, Lecter might offer insight into a case, and Starling might be precisely what the doctor ordered in order to entice him to come out.
