The Reconciliation

Beginning of 1945 in Poland. Under the pretense of punishing "national traitors" in a freshly liberated nation, the Communist Security Service is exterminating its adversaries. On the grounds of the former Nazi concentration camp Zgoda/Reconciliation, they establish a labor camp for Germans, Silesians, and Poles. Franek, who is in love with the Polish prisoner Anna, becomes a guard in the concentration camp in order to rescue her. He is unaware that one of the detainees, Erwin, his German friend, has also had a long-standing crush on this woman. Franek joins the communists in a vain attempt to outwit the system.
