The Tour de France's opening stages are shifted to Ireland in the summer of 1998. Dom Chabol (late 30s), a Belgian cyclist, has spent the last 20 years on the Tour as one of the top "Domestiques" (support riders). It's a selfless position, setting the tempo, blocking the wind, and providing support to help the team's sprinter win. Dom, on the other hand, secretly wishes to wear the yellow jersey one last time before retiring. Dom is abruptly dropped from the Team to which he has dedicated his life at the outset of what will most likely be his final Tour. Sonny, his best friend and team masseur, is unable to reassure him about his future prospects. However, a serendipitous encounter with Lynn, a young Irish doctor, softens the pain, and Dom begins to accept - and even love - civilian life. However, as he prepares to return home and confront his estranged sister, another teammate is eliminated from the Tour, and Dom is pushed back into the saddle...
