The film is the second installment of Aki Kaurismäki's "Finland" trilogy, and it follows a man who arrives in Helsinki and is severely beaten, causing him to develop amnesia. He can't get a job or an apartment because he can't remember his name or anything from his previous life, so he moves to the city's outskirts and gradually begins to put his life back together.
