The Last Wave

David Burton, an Australian barrister, concurs with the reluctance to defend a community of aborigines accused of murdering one of their own. He believes the victim was singled out for violating a cultural taboo, but the defendants deny any tribal ties. Burton, haunted by apocalyptic visions of water, gradually comes to comprehend that harm may come from his own association with the aborigines and their prophecies.
