The Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island

In the fourth book in the series, "leaf gobblers" eat all the plants in Great Valley, which forces Littlefoot, the young brontosaurus, and the other dinosaurs to leave. During the migration, the adults fight, and Littlefoot and his friends decide to do something about it by crossing the "big water" to an unknown island. There, they meet Chomper, the T-rex, an old friend from The Land Before Time II. Chomper has to protect the group from his own parents, who eat people. This one has a lot of drama, and as the series has done since the beginning, it shows that adults aren't always perfect.
