The Hunger Games

The nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games every year in the ruins of what was once North America. The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" fight one other until only one survives. Katniss is forced to rely on her acute instincts as well as the tutelage of inebriated previous victor Haymitch Abernathy as she is pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have spent their entire lives preparing for these Games. Katniss must make tough choices in the arena weighing survival against humanity and life against love if she is ever to return to District 12. The entire world is watching.
