The Heartbreak Kid
Christina (Claudia Karvan) is an affluent Greek-Australian school teacher who is happily married to a lawyer. It's not long until the pupils start challenging her ideas. Christina falls for ambitious soccer player Nick,17, after becoming involved in a campaign by non-anglo students to join a soccer club in a school where the racist PE instructor only promotes Australian Rules Football (Alex Dimitriades). The resulting scandal compels Christina to confront herself, her family, and her society. Beautifully done by a young cast, and thoughtfully penned.
