The Final Countdown

During normal operations in the Pacific Ocean in 1980, the USS Nimitz, the Navy's most powerful warship, is trapped in a typhoon. A weird green light surrounds the ship as it travels through a vortex, and when it emerges, all communication with the rest of the world has been lost. While on patrol, the F-14 crew is surprised to come face to face with a fleet of vintage Japanese fighter planes, which the ship's captain dispatched for them.
