Ryan is a teenager who is unable to communicate because of a speech impediment. Ryan (Armin Mueller-Stahl) is transported to a strange fantasy world when he accidentally falls off a bridge. There, he meets his Grandpa Randolph (Armin Mueller-Stahl) and a pretty girl named Melanie (Hayden Panettiere); together, Ryan and Melanie learn to help one another with their problems and they both discover the wisdom that can be gained from elders like Grandpa Randolph.
