The Concert

A former Bolshoi Orchestra conductor called as "The Maestro," Andre Filipov, had his career ended by Leonid Brezhnev for selecting Jewish musicians. He now cleans the musical theater where he formerly conducted. He receives an official invitation from the famed Théâtre du Châtelet one day, which he promptly ignores. Through a series of bizarre pranks, he reassembles his old orchestra, which is now comprised of elderly drunken musicians, and goes to Paris to perform the Tchaikovsky concerto, which had been left unfinished 30 years previously by an accident. His concerto is performed with a young violin soloist with whom he develops an unforeseen bond during the course of the performance.
