When Stephen Lewis, a well-known children's book author, loses his only kid, four-year-old Kate, in a supermarket, his life takes an unexpected turn. Suddenly, Stephen realizes his daughter is no longer there, a realization that haunts him for years to come. Stephen and his wife, who are both mourning the loss of their daughter Kate, take different routes in the wake of her death.
