Finney Shaw, a 13-year-old kid who is both shy and intelligent, is abducted by a sadistic killer and imprisoned in a soundproof cellar where screams are of little help. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney realizes that he can hear the killer's prior victims' voices.
