The Black Hole

The USS Palomino is returning to Earth after a futile 18-month search for extraterrestrial life when the crew discovers an allegedly lost ship, the USS Cygnus, hanging near a black hole. The spacecraft is controlled by Dr. Hans Reinhardt and his monster robot companion, but as the Palomino crew discovers Reinhardt's goals, their initial admiration for the ship and its resistance to the black hole's power turns to terror.
