The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman

In February1962, a New York journalist visits Bayonne, Louisiana, to interview Jane Pittman, who had just turned 110. She tells him her story, beginning with her earliest memories and ending with the end of slavery. The present-day battles of Blacks in Bayonne, encouraged on by Jimmy, are dramatized in between tales of her life.
