Shirlee Kenyon, a direct and honest small-town girl, dumps her lover and relocates to Chicago. When she is forced to host a radio problem-solving phone-in show by accident, it is obvious she is a natural and gets employed on the spot. However, the station insists she use the moniker Doctor, and as her popularity develops, a local reporter begins to investigate. The issue is that the more time he spends with her, the more he develops an interest in her.
