Immediately following the massacre of Custer's 7th Cavalry by the Indians, the general's reputation is ruined. Abby Allshard, the Fort's commanding officer's wife, and her niece, Olivia Dandridge, are being evacuated for their own protection, therefore Capt. Nathan Brittles must accompany them on patrol.
