Larry Livingstone, a psychotherapist, is ready for a fresh commitment three years after divorcing his model wife. He develops feelings for the young widow Beth, who is the mother of two children. However, Beth and the children are still grieving the loss of their husband and father, and Larry has some difficulty breaking through their reservations. Larry must contend with his ex-wife and his own two children. Beth and the children gradually realize that they must continue living their lives and that they have been given a second chance.
