Sam the Snowman narrates the story of a young red-nosed reindeer who joins forces with Hermey, an elf who wants to be a dentist, and Yukon Cornelius, the prospector, after being kicked out of the reindeer games due to his glowing nose. They encounter the Abominable Snowman and discover an entire island full of misfit toys. On Christmas Eve, Rudoph returns to the North Pole to see if he can persuade Santa to assist the toys. Santa's sleigh, however, is obscured by fog. When Santa looks over Rudolph, though, he has a brilliant idea...
