Rita, Sue and Bob Too

A realistic depiction of working-class life in Yorkshire. Two schoolgirls have a sexual relationship with a married man. Serious and humorous at times. Andrea Dunbar adapted Rita, Sue, and Bob Too from two of her own controversial plays. Rita (Siobhan Finneran) and Sue (Michelle Holmes) are two teenagers who share a babysitting job for Bob (George Costigan) and Michelle's (Lesley Sharp) children on a run-down council estate in Bradford. Bob decides to take Rita and Sue up to a deserted country-side landscape one night while driving them home. Rita and Sue, clearly aware of what he has in mind, are only too happy to oblige, and both have a sexual encounter with him that becomes a regular occurrence. Despite the film's obvious political incorrectness, it emerges as a somewhat controversial, but enduringly amusing film with a sharp, gritty undertone.
