Riding the Bullet

Alan Parker, played by Jackson, is a young artist who goes to school at the University of Maine in 1969. He becomes obsessed with death, and on his birthday, when he thinks he's going to lose his girlfriend, Jessica (Christensen), he tries to kill himself. His friends stop him, and he gets better. He hears that his mother has had a stroke and decides to hitchhike to the hospital to see her.
