The Red Ghost
Today in 1941, on December 30. Vyazma (Russian for "Vyazemsky cauldron") is the name given to a tiny Soviet detachment that fights an outnumbered and outgunned Wehrmacht special forces outfit. But not one of them is contemplating giving up. Each one of them was prepared to give his life to defend his homeland. None of these courageous individuals grew up expecting to be recognized as heroes. Soviet soldiers in the Great Patriotic War are credited with inspiring fatal fear of German soldiers in animals, giving rise to the legend of the red ghost. The idea of the indestructible Soviet soldier was established as a replacement for a fallen hero. All the soldiers in "The Red Ghost" have faith in a better future.
