In the wilds of Montana, two foolish drifters named Jack McKee and Cecil Colson eke out a livelihood by robbing other people's cattle. In contrast to Jack, Cecil is a half-Native American half-breed attempting to forge his own path in life away from his father, a wealthy man. Targeting the cattle owned by wealthy rancher John Brown helps them make ahead in the world of business. Burt and Curt are hired by John, a rancher who is fed up with someone stealing his livestock, to go on the hunt for the crooks. When Brown comes to the realization that he can no longer rely on his two useless ranch employees, he goes to the grizzled former rustler Henry Beige for help in tracking down the cattle thieves. Meanwhile, Jack and Cecil remain unconcerned about the fact that their good fortune is running out.
