Project Nim
The story of Nim, the chimp who was the subject of a groundbreaking experiment in the 1970s that intended to show that an ape could learn to speak with language if trained and nurtured like a human kid, comes from the team behind Man on Wire. The film is an uncompromising and unsentimental biography of an animal we tried to make human, following Nim's astonishing journey through human society and the lasting impact he has on the people he encounters along the way. What we learn about his-and our own-actual character is amusing, enlightening, and deeply disconcerting.
