Suzanne Vale, a drug addict, is in trouble. Her film business requires her to live with her mother Doris Mann, a former star and now a heavy drinker, in order to keep her on the payroll. This is awful news for Suzanne, who has spent years trying to escape her mother's shadow, only to discover that she is still a child. Despite these issues, Suzanne begins to recognize the humor in her predicament, and realizes that moms, like daughters, have mothers.
