In the midst of the overwhelming complexity of a technologically advanced Paris, the clumsy Monsieur Hulot becomes befuddled. He sets off to meet with a business acquaintance, but he quickly becomes disoriented. His circuitous path follows that of an American tourist, and as they weave their way through the imaginative urban environment, they come across one another and become interested in one another's company. Finally, they find themselves in a crazy restaurant with a variety of other eccentric personalities.
