Perfumed Nightmare
Voiceover narration by Tahimik explains rural living patterns. As a child, he was fascinated by the Voice of America and the space program, which he learned about through his father. He joins the Werner von Braun fan club in an effort to become a modern, well-off citizen like his idol. It's his chance when he comes at an abandoned international convention. To run his chewing-gum-ball machine concession on the streets of Paris, the American begs him to travel there. Friendships with Germans and a trip to Paris reveal that growth in the industrialized world compromises key principles. Amidst images of a Paris conference, and unable to return to his romanticized past, he steadfastly refuses to submit to the terms of progress, resigning from his position as president of the Werner von Braun fan club and declaring that he would find his own way..
