When Marie, a widow in Provence with two daughters, goes to sleep, she dreams about Marty, a literary agent in Manhattan who dreams about Marie just as vividly. The women have a similar appearance. When Marie meets William, he starts courting her. Marty meets Aaron, an accountant, and the two become friends, then lovers. Both women share their fantasies with their partners. Aaron accepts, however William is envious. Marie will not fall asleep close to William, despite the fact that they have become lovers. Marty wakes up with an ashtray from the hotel on her nightstand after Marie and William go on vacation to Paris. Is it possible that they are the same person? What will be the key to unlocking reality?
