In this historical drama with music by director Christophe Barratier, a star is born during a moment of celebration and turmoil. In the spring of 1936, Paris is in a state of flux; while the rise of the Third Reich in Germany is a source of concern for many, a leftist union-oriented candidate, Léon Blum, has been elected to the presidency, and organized labor is beginning to feel the effects of its newfound power by taking on management.
