Carlos goes to the coffee shop-library where Irene is reading a book. Irene is drawn to Carlos and engages in conversation with him, so initiating a friendship with some restrictions: no sharing of pasts or birth names; no use of current communication methods (such as the Internet or similar); and, ultimately, no falling in love with each other. The two characters, who go by the names Hada Chalada ('Crazy Fairy') and Duende Chiflado ('Mad Goblin'), spend their days walking around the city, engaging in magical, surrealist, and humorous conversations about life, love, and themselves, all while Carlos is attempting to finish his new script with his friend Cristóbal, an eccentric writer obsessed with Japan.
