These "archaeologists" unearth wonderfully preserved samples from the past of a man and his wife as well as their child. When the scientist and his two fumbling helpers see these vampires, they have no idea that they've been paralyzed by the paper spells that have been put on their foreheads. The infant's magic was broken as it was being transported to a buyer, allowing the vampire child to escape and form a friendship with some of the town's children. Awakened by this point, they escape, but the local herbalist has tracked them down and will stop at nothing to exterminate them after they have escaped.
