In the 1970s, the horror film The Dark Beneath was released. The film's director and star, Ted Radford, experiences a mental collapse and is sent to a psychiatric facility. His doctor tries to heal him by showing him his favorite film. Dr. Wayne, a psychiatrist, is doubtful about this notion, yet he leaves for the evening. When he returns the following morning, the scene is a bloodbath, but no victims have been found. Five years later, The Dark Beneath is screened for the first time since the killings in a local cinema as a midnight horror film.
