With the help of the new maintenance worker, Army veteran Johnny, and his quiet son Max, Alana, the high school dean, and her exuberant teenage daughter Samantha prepare a holiday performance to preserve the school in a tiny town. When Sam is seriously injured in a car accident, Alana goes to Johnny for help, and Max makes a desperate decision that will permanently bind their families together. All four must examine their ideals on sacrifice, family, and love, as well as what it means to be grateful for another Christmas.
