Max and the Junkmen

Max is a Paris investigator who is distant, self-sufficient, and frustrated by robber groups he cannot apprehend. To re-establish his status and save face, he organizes a bank robbery with a crew of petty crooks (headed by an old acquaintance). A reluctant captain gives Max with intelligence, and Max begins spending evenings with Lilly, a prostitute who is the group's leader's girlfriend. He poses as a wealthy banker with unlimited funds and pushes Lilly to consider her future. He alluded to a paycheck that goes via his bank. The operation is successful, the small thieves believe they are poised for a big score, and the cops are on the scene. What could possibly go wrong with Max's cold strategy? Who is trapped?
