From father to son, the Gamache family has been making clothes for the Patern family of the Mafia for three generations. Vincent "Vince" Gamache and his oldest son Giaco work for Frank the godfather. Vince, who is careless and quick to act, wants to prove himself by impressing the godfather. He pulls off a big operation without the Patern knowing about it, which gets him a promotion. Giaco is furious with envy when he finds out that Vince did something horrible during his stroke. The Gamache turn their backs on Vince, and war starts.
