Lina is on the cusp of completing her high school education, and she has her sights set on a future at MIT. However, when Lina's mother becomes ill, she pushes Lina to follow in her footsteps and experience what she calls "the summer of a lifetime" in Rome. She uses the old diary that her mother kept as a guide as she travels around the charming and enchanted city, where she just could find love... and gelato, of course.
