Le Havre
Marcel Marx, a former bohemian and struggling author, has abandoned his literary ambitions and relocated to the port city of Le Havre. He lives a simple life centered on his wife Arletty, his favorite bar, and his not-so-profitable job as a shoeshiner. As Arletty falls gravely ill, Marcel crosses paths with an underage illegal immigrant from Africa who needs Marcel's assistance to flee the police.
