King of the Hill

Following the story of a boy who lives on his own in a hotel in St. Louis after his mother is sent to a tuberculosis sanitarium, the film is based on author A. E. Hotchner's memoir of the same name from the 1930s. His father, a German immigrant and salesman for the Hamilton Watch Company, is going on long trips that the boy can't be sure he'll come back from.
