By disguising himself as an anthropomorphic chicken, the film's central character, Kanthasamy (Vikram), who works as an Income Tax officer for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and his pals satisfy the wishes of the less fortunate who submit letters to the temple's Lord Muruga. During a CBI income tax search, he comes upon a cache of black money belonging to Ponnusamy (played by Ashish Vidyarthi), a wealthy and crooked entrepreneur. He decides to investigate. Ponnusamy pretends to be paralyzed in order to avoid being interrogated. Ponnusamy's daughter, Subbulakshmi (played by Shriya Saran), is enraged by the news that her father has been paralyzed and sets out to find Kanthasamy in order to get revenge by pretending to be in love with him. Kanthasamy, who is well aware of Subbulakshmi's true objectives, participates in the game. This results in a game of cat and mouse between the two of them.
