Johnny Got His Gun
On the final day of World War I, Joe, a young American soldier, is hit by a mortar shell. He is a quadruple amputee who has lost his arms, legs, eyes, ears, mouth, and nose and is lying in a hospital bed. Unbeknownst to his doctors, he remains conscious and able to think, reliving his life through strange dreams and memories and unable to tell the difference between being awake and dreaming. He is still frustrated with his situation, until one day Joe discovers a novel way to communicate with his caregivers.
