Jan Dara: The Beginning

The movie tells the story of Jan, a boy who grows up in a house run by his sadistic and drunken father, Luang Wisnan. The story is based on a well-known Thai erotic novel. The story takes place in the 1930s and is about Jan, whose mother dies while giving birth to him and whose father hates him very much. Jan grows up with his stepmother, Aunt Wad, and he struggles to deal with his feelings of guilt and longing for different women in his life, like the girl he loves, Hyacinth, and later Madame Boonleung, who is an affair partner of his father and a key figure in Jan's sexual awakening.
