Into the Woods
One of Stephen Sondheim's best-known fairy tale-based works, "Into the Woods," is a narrative of family, love, growing up, and the blurry line between right and wrong. In London's Regent's Park Open Air theater, director Timothy Sheader staged this show, which was captured by Digital Theatre live. The Brothers Grimm tales are given a dark and funny makeover in Into the Woods, a musical adaptation. Tales such as Cinderella and Rapunzel are intertwined with that of a Baker and Wife and their struggle to conceive a child. "Happily ever after" isn't the end of the story in this retelling, as familiar people find themselves in new situations and their hopes are re-examined.
