The story is based on a true event. During a raid near Grotli on April27,1940, an RAF Blackburn Skua L2940 fighter shoots down a Heinkel 111 bomber piloted by Horst Schopis and crashes into the ground. The surviving German and English crew members start shooting at each other, but they eventually end up huddled together in the same cabin. They will have to work together if they are to survive the severe winter in the Norwegian countryside. A bond that will last a lifetime develops in an unlikely place.
