In My Father's Den

Due to the death of his father, Paul (Macfadyen), a prize-winning war journalist, returns to his remote New Zealand hometown, battle-scarred and world-weary. He opens up a world only dreamed of by the dissatisfied sixteen-year-old Celia (Barclay). She actively seeks out a friendship with him, drawn to his cynicism and knowledge of the world beyond her small-town existence. Many people, including members of both their families (Otto and Moy), dislike their friendship, and when Celia goes missing, Paul becomes the increasingly despised and persecuted prime suspect in her death. As the violent and urgent truth gradually emerges, Paul is forced to confront the family tragedy and betrayal from which he fled as a child, as well as the grave consequences of the silence and secrecy that has surrounded his entire adult life.
