Gaetano, a young Napoletan, decides to leave behind his home, job, and friends in order to pursue other opportunities and meet new people. Arrive in Firenze, the Zia's home. Marta meets and falls in love with him in an ambulatory, where he works. After a series of amusing situations (a venerable friend from the parlantina's unstoppable arrival in Naples; the maturing zia and her attempted love; a young pre-evangelical American who wants to forcefully involve him in his evangelical visits; the encounter with Riccardino, a young man frustrated by an oppressive mother; the father who awaits the miraculous resuscitation of an amputated hand; and so on) Gaetano decides to stay in Florence and play the role of father to Marta's child, despite the fact that the girl does not want to reveal her father's name.
