Five young men living in a tiny Italian village dream of achieving greatness as they drift through life with a laid-back attitude. As the group's head, Fausto, is an unrepentant womanizer; Riccardo desires recognition; Alberto is a forlorn dreamer; Moraldo fantasizes about city life; and Leopoldo is an aspiring dramatist. During the course of Fausto's chase after a succession of ladies, much to the dismay of his expectant wife, the other four bumble their way from one uninteresting experience to another.
